LUXURY SKIN MUSEUM
Counter-Strike 2 & Valve Awareness Campaign
The background
CS2 in-game items and skins represent more than just cosmetic enhancements; they embody a rich culture of personal expression and economic activity that may of its gamers partake in–many of them, children.
The problem
From million dollar deals, professional matchfixing, and even child gambling, CS2 skins and its industry are the driving force of an incredibly complex revolution that has had an impact on the gaming industry and a lot of kids.
GOLD. GOLD. GOLD!
CS2 loot boxes are programmed to look and behave like slot machines straight out of Vegas.
Just a Coincidence?
What we did
To spotlight critical issues of this unregulated machine, we developed CS2's first digital museum, “The Luxury Skins Museum.”
What is it the LSM?
The map is a digital creation of a modern museum within the game of Counter-Strike, featuring visually stunning interactive exhibits that are filled with the world’s most expensive skins.
The museum serves as a platform to stand for what is right by highlighting alarming trends and driving the need for change.
How it works
1. INTEGRATE - Subscribe to the map via Steam’s CS2 workshop on mobile, web, or from the in-game dashboard to play and explore it instantly.
2. EXPOSE - Educational info is embedded in the map and workshop page for players and the broader public to discover and spark essential conversations about the urgent need for regulation and ethical practices.
3. ACTIVATE - Pop-up museums held at S-tier Counter-Strike tournaments in major cities–from Copenhagen and Cologne to Rio and Dallas. Even bringing it to Chinese gamers who make up a large percentage of stakeholders.
4. CHANGE - Offer a roadmap for a safer, more transparent gaming experience along with a petition on the web and Steam workshop page to grab Valve’s attention.
Pop-ups feature real life skins that you can hold and other objects, like cars, that money from high-valued skins could buy.
